The year 2 children worked with parent Gemma Simpson to create an art piece commemorating their time at the school. Gemma has been a member of the O'Connor Cooperative School community for many years as her two older children also attended the school.
Over several weeks, Gemma worked with the children teaching them different clay techniques. Each child created a cylinder featuring symbols of relevance to them. The pieces were glazed and fired at Chapman Primary School.
The installation will be a feature of the outdoor environment for years to come. We thank Gemma for sharing her expertise with the 2015 year 2 group.

Community singing was a great way to wrap up the school year today. Song requests were taken from the children, teachers and parents. These included long time favourites and Christmas songs.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas break. See you in the new year!

This year's end of year whole school excursion took place in week 10. The children and staff spent a morning at the MPowerdome sports complex in Fadden.
As part of this excursion the children engaged in a range of sports including soccer, tennis and basketball. MPowerdome staff ran a series of cooperative group games using different types of sporting equipment. The children were also able to explore the two inflatable obstacle courses which everyone loved!
We thank the team at MPowerdome for the fun filled session they coordinated for our students.

The year 2 children ran their final assembly this week. It featured a speech from Jenny, reflections from the graduating cohort, community singing and the presentation of certificates and books.
There was a very special rendition of the song 'We Wish you Joy' which kindergarten and year 1 children sang to their year 2 friends.
We wish year 2 2015 all the best as they transition to primary school in 2016. We encourage them to visit and stay in touch with staff and students at the O'Connor Cooperative School.
