The O'Connor Cooperative School has a long history of providing innovative, high quality early childhood education. We believe that all children are unique beings, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and beliefs about the world and their place in it. We believe that children are capable, confident and creative learners with unlimited potential.

As part of their science program, year 2 visited the Materials Recovery Facility at Hume.
MRF staff member, Lee, led the group on a tour of the landfill site and shared interesting waste and recycling facts with the group.
The children will use this experience and the learning which has taken place over the term to prepare a rich task through which to apply their knowledge of environmental sciences.

Each year we acknowledge the role of grandparents and grand friends. This year our visitors were invited to take part in morning investigations.
The 1/2 children enjoyed doing woodwork and collage with their visitors. In kindergarten, grandparents were treated to delicious meals in the dramatic play restaurant. Preschool children relished the opportunity to have their grandparents join them for morning investigations.

The year 2 children worked with parent Gemma Simpson to create an art piece commemorating their time at the school. Gemma has been a member of the O'Connor Cooperative School community for many years as her two older children also attended the school.
Over several weeks, Gemma worked with the children teaching them different clay techniques. Each child created a cylinder featuring symbols of relevance to them. The pieces were glazed and fired at Chapman Primary School.
The installation will be a feature of the outdoor environment for years to come. We thank Gemma for sharing her expertise with the 2015 year 2 group.
