Enrolment 2019

Enrolment applications for term 1 of 2019 open on Monday 30 April 2018 and must be submitted online at https://form.act.gov.au/smartforms/landing.htm?formCode=1087.


All ACT children are guaranteed a place in an ACT Public School, from preschool through to college. Information about the enrolment assessment criteria and priority enrolment areas can be found at https://www.education.act.gov.au/school_education/enrolling_in_an_act_public_school.


If you are applying to enrol in preschool, year 7 or year 11 we ask that you submit your application by 4 June 2018 to support timely processing and school planning.  From 30 June 2018, after the application has been processed, parents/carers will commence receiving advice from the school on the enrolment. Please note, that the order in which applications are received is not a factor in schools determining places and as a result, there is no requirement to submit your application form on the first day applications open.

Book Week 2017

It's not a box, it's a...

The Co-op celebrated Book Week with our annual Book Week Parade, this year based on the book 'Not a Box' with the theme "It's not a box, its a...". With the theme in mind, students and staff created something out of a box, which wasn't actually a box. We had unicorns, planes, suitcases, cars and many more in our parade!

National Science Week Celebrations

Scientist Mitch and students combining liquids during the Science Fair

2017 Science Week was celebrated with our Science Fair. Students visited 6 different science rotations including future earth (where does our rubbish go?), combining liquids, rocket launch, geology, scientific toys and chandelier of plastics. We worked in multi age groups including students and staff from Black Mountain School. The day included three visiting scientists, lots of great questions and fun for all. Future Earth is in good hands!

Student's Science Fair Robots

To celebrate National Science Week, students enjoyed participating in our Science Fair. Visiting scientists, along with students and staff from our neighbouring Black Mountain school, shared their knowledge and challenged our thinking in experiences with sound waves, robotics and senses, designing robots, mini rockets, cloud in bottle, changing molecules and gravity.Sharing the learning in multi aged groups added to the fun.

Kerry Saxby-Junna visit

Kerry Saxby-Junna was a special guest in our Year 2 classroom. Kerry has represented Australia as a race walker in many events, including the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Kerry shared with us her experiences as an athlete and the connections she has made with places through her sport.

Sorry Sorry

Continuing our community journey of reconciliation Bianca and Bree shared the story Sorry Sorry with the children. This story helps us build a platform where understanding, appreciation and respect for "All Peoples " can be built. In the words of the author Anne Kerr. "A journey together where it is important to share, be fair and to care".

Cross Country at Turner School

Turner carnival

Today year 2 attended the Turner School cross country carnival. The children took part in the 1 km race and enjoyed being part of the event. 

This was also transition opportunity for the children. They were able to meet peers at Turner School, get to know some of the staff at the school and begin familiarising themselves with the layout of the school. 

We thank the staff at Turner for a great carnival! 

Anzac Day ceremony at Moreshead Home

Anzac Day

This morning current and past O'Connor Cooperative School students took part in an Anzac Day service at Moreshead Home, Lyneham. 

The students were accompanied by school staff, members of the Southside Community Service singers and the Music Engagement Program team as they shared the song 'Gallipoli'.    


Year 2 visit the Materials Recovery Facility

As part of their science program, year 2 visited the Materials Recovery Facility at Hume.
MRF staff member, Lee, led the group on a tour of the landfill site and shared interesting waste and recycling facts with the group.
The children will use this experience and the learning which has taken place over the term to prepare a rich task through which to apply their knowledge of environmental sciences. 

Grandparents Morning

Each year we acknowledge the role of grandparents and grand friends. This year our visitors were invited to take part in morning investigations.

The 1/2 children enjoyed doing woodwork and collage with their visitors. In kindergarten, grandparents were treated to delicious meals in the dramatic play restaurant. Preschool children relished the opportunity to have their grandparents join them for morning investigations.

Music Engagement Program sing-a-long at the Mint

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of decimal currency, the Royal Australian Mint is having an open day. The Music Engagement Program will be running some community singing and invites the O'Connor Cooperative School community to take part in the occasion. 

Date: Saturday 13 February

Time: 1pm 

Place: meet outside to the left of the entrance (facing the building)
